Volvo more Friendly with the Nature

Car Manufacture from Sweden, Volvo introduced their latest diesel engine, Volvo Engine Architecture or VEA. This engine will be launched around next August to October.

The latest engine Volvo Car Group is the latest first diesel engine that using i-ART technology in the world. This latest technology help to reducing the car fuel consumption.

With back pressure for each injector, i-ART technology can controlling the combustion in each cylinder. Volvo claimed that this engine more efficient than using a single pressure in the common rail

"Increasing the rail pressure to 2500 bar, it very high with help from i-ART technology. This can be pictured as the second steps in the diesel engine revolution" Derek Crabb, Vice President Powertrain Engineering at Volvo Car Group.

Crabb added that each injector has tiny computer in top of it, which is monitoring every injection pressure. With this information, i-ART technology can adapting and managing the ideal amount of fuel that needs in the combustion process.

Diesel engine with i-ART, beside reducing the fuel consumption, it also reduce the emission, giving high performance of engine and have strong sound character.

This Volvo engine will also combined with 8-speed automatic transmission. it give more pleasure to the driver, with smooth engine, responsive and agile

Volvo - Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection

Volvo always serious to inventing safety technology for driving and around their neighborhood. Their new invented is Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection with Full auto brake and has been launched in Geneva Auto Show 2013.

This technology can detected also doing automatic brake when are pedestrian or cyclist suddenly pass the front side of car. Due the accident data, there are 50% cyclist were killed in Europe because crashing with a car.

"As one of the Automotive Safety Technology pioneer, We are the first one in this industry that applicated all detection and automatic brake technology simultaneously. From first generation of brake assist in 2006 to pedestrian detection with full auto brake in 2010" Doug Speck, Senior Vice President Marketing, Sales and Customer Service at Volvo Car Group.

With the latest software including the speed of processing system, it possible for this technology to have more wider sensor area. Finally fast detection and direct respond for slowing the car speed until it stop. It minimize the chance of accident with cyclist or pedestrian.

This feature combined the camera and radar function. Integrate in grill position, the camera taken place in the front rearview mirror and central control unit. The radar function is detected an object then calculated it distance. Camera function is to definition that object. Central Control unit will keep monitoring and taking a decision what has to do.

Pedestrian and Cyclist detection with full auto brake will be planted in V40, S60, V60, XC60, V70, XC70 and S80 variant in Mei 2013.

Volvo create New Airbag

Volvo has prestige predicate in Vehicle Safety Technology. Other day, Volvo invented a revolutionary technology for pedestrian. They called it Pedestrian Airbag Technology. Volvo also invented Called External Vehicle Protection (EnVeloP). It's a safety device that put and been vacum to minimize it then the device is planted in the car just like material in the cabin airbag.

According Volvo, This Air Balloon can expand and cover the body of car in instant when they got impact. The purpose is to minimize the risk injury of the passenger.

"New safety feature is represent our brand philosophy, Designed Around You. All that we have done were to actualize that. Rather than we look new area in the cabin to positioning the Spot Airbag, We asking to ourself, what if we covered the car with airbag as the solution?" Thomas Broberg, Senior Technical Adviser Safety at the Volvo Cars Safety Centre.

Volvo standard of safety usually being used to all kind of car in  the world. And it's possible that this technology will be the best option to minimize the effect of accident in the future. Volvo  will plan this new safety feature soon.
