World Car Design of the Year - Jaguar F-Type


Jaguar F-Type has been announced as the World Car Design Of the Year 2013, in New York Auto Show. In this event, VW Golf 7 also got title as World Car of The Year too. Jaguar F-Type has been chosen by 66 journalists from 23 countries and successfully beated other competitor such as Mazda 6 and Aston Martin Vanquish.

"There is no other design project that give me happiness beside Jaguar F-Type design. I really exited about this project and it gave me satisfaction and to our team too. F-Type is a sport car that shown the real value of Jaguar, the beauty from it's designed and the pure. It's a honor to us because the jury saw our hard-work" Ian Callum, Jaguar Director of Design.

The jury has a right to choose each car that had been recommended by their expert. Each candidate been measured and choose by the expert, until it's end to the Jury desk. The experts are Masatsugu Arimoto (Japan - Freelance design Journalist), Silvia Baruffaldi (Italy - Auto & Design magazine), Gernot Bracht (Germany - Pforzheim Design School), Sam Livingstone (U.K. - Car Design Research and Royal College of Art), and Tom Matano (USA - School of Industrial Design at Academy of Art university in San Francisco).

"The car has good structure with long wheelbase, short overhang, and wider fender. The line from back fender to each door gave muscle looks. Exterior of F-Type still got it's Jaguar elegance. The horizontal line proportion and circular surface made the car so dynamic. And the interior design is more interesting, if we looks from the driver view" One of the design expert comment.

The lowest Jaguar F-Type is provided with 3.0 lt supercharger V6 engine, it has output power 340 HP and 332 lb-ft torque. This power is enough to 62 mph in 5.1 second. Meanwhile, the maximum speed is 260 km/hour
